Oman share index ends lower

Muscat: After a strong first couple of days, the MSM30 Index retreated 0.19 per cent to close at 5,388.02 points. Trading volume and turnover saw an uptick on Tuesday supported by a special deal. The MSM Sharia Index ended on a flat note at 833.75 points, up 0.05 per cent. Ominvest was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. United Power, up 9.88 per cent remained the top gainer while Construction Materials was the top loser, down by 3.33 per cent.
A total number of 1,684 trades were executed on Tuesday, generating turnover of OMR7.3 million with 41.6 million shares changing hands. Out of 47 traded securities, 38 advanced, four declined and five remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani Investors were net buyers for OMR1.22 million while Foreign Investors were net sellers for OMR834,000 followed by GCC & Arab Investors for OMR388,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index declined 0.24 per cent to close at 6,734.47 points. Oman & Emirates Holding, Al Sharqia Investments, Al Madina Investments, DBIH and Al Anwar Holding gained 6.93 per cent, 3.96 per cent, 3.28 per cent, 2.50 per cent and 0.56 per cent respectively. Al Izz Bank, Bank Nizwa, Bank Muscat, United Finance and Bank Dhofar lost 1.49 per cent, 1.32 per cent, 1.32 per cent, 0.80 per cent and 0.75 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index advanced 0.43 per cent and closed at 6,675.56 points. Al Anwar Ceramics, Oman Fisheries, Oman Textiles and Al Maha Ceramics gained 5.28 per cent, 1.69 per cent, 1.62 per cent and 1.42 per cent respectively. Construction Materials, Al Hassan Engineering, Salalah Mills and Gulf International Chemicals decreased 3.33 per cent, 2.74 per cent, 1.34 per cent and 1.03 per cent respectively.
Services Index had marginal gains of 0.14 per cent to close at 2,993.86 points. United Power, National Gas, Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power and Port Services gained 9.88 per cent, 5.81 per cent, 1.49 per cent, 1.49 per cent and 0.76 per cent respectively. Sembcorp Salalah, Renaissance Services, Phoenix Power and OIFC declined 2.00 per cent, 1.94 per cent, 0.69 per cent and 0.50 per cent respectively.
