67 workers arrested for violating labour law in Oman

Muscat: Sixty-seven workers were arrested in Al Buraimi in December 2016 for violating the labour law, the Ministry of Manpower reported on Monday.
Of the arrested, 60 were commercial workers, three in private jobs and four working in agricultural jobs.
The ministry said 60 of them were absconding and seven who have been fired by their bosses.
During the same period, 115 workers were deported for violating the labour law, including 98 commercial, 15 private and two agricultural workers.
The ministry said it received 61 reports over workers leaving their jobs without informing their sponsors.
