Another first for the Royal Hospital Oman

Muscat: The National Center for Cardiac Medicine and Surgery at Royal Hospital succeeded for the first time in removing the lower pulmonary lobe through a modern technique called Thoracoscope operation with a single-port technique, the Royal Hospital said on Thursday.

A statement issued online said: “The surgical method thoracoscopic operation with a single-port technique is one of the latest findings of medicine in the field of endoscopic surgery.”

“The surgery was performed by the global surgeon D. Diego Gonzalez, in cooperation with Dr. Ahmed bin Abdul Wahab Al Balushi, Senior Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgery,” the statement added

The Royal Hospital confirmed: “ This technique is characterised to reduce the patient's stay in the hospital and his ability to practice life activities three days after the surgery.”
