Oil marketing firms in Oman open 24 new petrol stations

Muscat: A total of 24 new petrol stations were opened by three petroleum retailers – Oman Oil Marketing, Shell Oman Marketing Company and Al Maha Petroleum – in the first eleven months of this year, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The ministry said 11 licenses were issued to LPG warehouses between January and November 2016 in the Governorates of Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, North Al Batinah, North Al Sharqiyah and Al Buraimi.
The ministry statement also noted that the sale of cylinders of liquefied petroleum gas (cooking gas) is an area that enables gas filling companies to create new jobs in the private sector. This objective is in line with the important Omanisation plan followed by the private sector. These companies are considered as being among the medium and small enterprises (SMEs) that help create many jobs for Omani youth and provide them a good income without relying on government jobs.
