Oman's Consumer protection ensures OMR10,000 payment

Muscat: More than OMR 10,000 was retrieved by the Department of Consumer Protection in Seeb to consumers last month including OMR 5400 worth of fines handed out by them.
The Department of Consumer Protection retrieved OMR 10,119 for a number of consumers in November 2016 under mutual agreements.
Aluminum, smiths and carpentry sectors topped the list with OMR 3,240 returned while manpower services sector followed with OMR 2920.
OMR 1886 was retrieved from vehicle repair shops while OMR 1020 came from contracting and building materials sector.
Telecom services owed OMR 277.5, and around OMR 355 were retrieved from tyre shops. The electric and electronic sector reimbursed consumers with a total of OMR 340 while car dealerships and its services owed OMR 220.
OMR 218 was retrieved from the tailoring sector while OMR 558.5 was retrieved from other sectors.
Furthermore, during November 2016, the Consumer Protection handed out OMR 5400 worth of fines as a result of false product prices on display, sale of banned products, failure to display product information such as production and expiry date and raising the fixed price of a product among many other violations.
