One ingredient 5 ways: Sausages
Whether freshly made or picked from the stores, sausages are generally available at home and can be sneaked into many recipes.
Sausage Soup
Heat olive oil in a pot and add 10 chopped chicken sausages and cook until browned. Stir in garlic, onion, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes (1/2 tsp each). Season with salt and pepper. Add 5 cups of chicken broth and few bay leaves, and bring to a boil. Add boiled pasta and cook until tender. Add a bunch of spinach leaves and stir. Serve hot.
Sausage Salad
Heat oil and cook 4 chicken or beef
sausages, sliced. Take 11/2 cups of couscous in a separate bowl and add boiling water. Add the cooked sausage, 100g snow peas diagonally sliced, 2 cherry tomatoes, sliced, and 1/2 cup basil leaves. Season with salt and pepper. Toss to combine. Drizzle with 1/2 cup balsamic salad dressing and serve.
Sausage Tacos
Fry 5-6 beef or chicken sausages for 5 minutes in olive oil. Add 1 sliced onion and fry for a while. Combine 2 chopped tomatoes, 2tbsp corn, 1 chopped avocado, 5 chopped lettuce leaves and 1/2 cup grated cheese in a bowl and mix. Top with onion and sausage mixture. Fold up tortillas. Serve with taco sauce.
Sausage Stir-fry
Saute onion and garlic in a pan. Add sliced sausages and cook until brown. Add chopped vegetables of your choice like bell peppers, broccoli, tomatoes, and cook until the veggies are tender. Season with salt and pepper, and garnish with coriander leaves.
Sausage Stew
Take 12 chopped chicken sausages and fry till golden brown. Saute 1 sliced onion separately. Add 400g chickpeas, 1tbsp tomato sauce, and 100ml chicken stock and cook for 5 minutes. Once done sprinkle 1 clove of chopped garlic and parsley leaves. Serve with crusty bread.
