Abu Dhabi: Dr. Su’aad bint Mohammed Al Lawatiyah, Deputy Chairman of the State Council headed the Omani delegation that took part in the International Summit of Female Parliamentary Leaders in Abu Dhabi.
The summit was hosted by the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) under the theme “United for Shaping the Future”.
The Omani female parliamentary delegation met with Saber Hossain Chowdhury, IPU President. The two sides discussed several issues that included status of woman in international parliaments, legislations and systems of elections in the world that support woman to reach parliament seats.
The meeting highlighted role of Omani woman in development, as well as the support accorded by His Majesty the Sultan for the Omani woman to enable her in all fields to push march of comprehensive development forward. The Omani female parliamentary delegation included Eng. Nashi’ah bint Saud Al-Kharousiyah, member at the State Council, Eng. Rahma bint Hamad Al Mesharfiyah, member at the State Council and Ni’amah bint Jameel Al Busaidiyah, member at Majlis Al Shura
