Muscat: Al Khoud Chargers lifted the champion’s trophy of Badr Al Samaa Cricket League (BCL) 2016 one day cricket tournament defeating Sohar Rhinos. The limited overs tournament between nine branches of the largest private healthcare provider Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals was hosted by Badr Al Samaa Hospital, Al Khoud.
The matches scheduled on round-robin league was held at Al Hail Cricket Ground, Mabella Muscat recently. Nine teams comprising of members from all nine branches of Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals participated in the event.
The participating teams were Falaj Blasters, Sohar Rhinos, Barka Warriors, Al Khoud Chargers, Al Khuwair Kings XI, Sur Strikers, Nizwa 6ers and Ruwi Royals representing different branches of Badr Al Samaa Group.
Al Khoud Chargers rocketed into the final after a blazing victory over the defending champion Ruwi Royals in the semifinal while Sohar Rhinos qualified for the final defeating Sur Strikers.
The man of the series was Abdul Jaleel and man of the match in the final was Dr Ashiq Iqbal. The event was managed by Jacob Oomman, Branch Manager, Badr Al Samaa Hospital, Al Khoud and coordinated by Dr Rajan and other support staff.
Badr Al Samaa promotes various sports in the country and they were honoured by Oman Football Association (OFA) in recognition of their valuable contributions to promote football in the Sultanate and they were also recently honoured by the Ministry of Sports Affairs for their contributions to various sports in the Sultanate.
