Spice up your weekend with some great shows

Royal Opera House
After sixty-three Grammy nominations and twenty-two wins, the American jazz and fusion pianist, keyboardist, and composer, Chick Corea will be delighting his audience at the Royal Opera House, Muscat. Music lovers will recognise the distinct Spanish flavour that is found in his compositions, which is especially highlighted in the famous pieces ‘Spain’ and ‘La Fiesta’. His piece ‘Windows’ has become a jazz standard. Considered an idol amongst Jazz pianists of the 1970s, Corea contributed to the birth of electric jazz standards. His playful melodies on the synthesizers and numerous electric keyboard instruments with the incorporation of rock and Spanish rhythms is the reason Corea’s fan following extends to an even larger audience. For this performance, the music will be conducted by Ion Marin and Chick Corea will play a special programme including Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue as well as some of his own compositions.
Dates: December 12 and 13, 2019

Helen
Malayalam

The movie begins with the story of Helen’s life, her dreams, and the loving relationship she shares with her father. All these elements later come together as the plot takes an unexpected turn where her very survival forms the crux of the story. As she battles a dangerous situation, her father’s anxiety over her going missing is portrayed perfectly without being overdramatic. If you like thrillers that also have an emotional side to it, then this is your kind of a movie.

about themselves in the process.
