Indian Embassy issues fresh guidelines for Overseas Citizens of India

Muscat: The Indian Embassy in Oman has issued fresh instructions over the renewal of Overseas Citizens of India cards for persons of Indian origin.

A statement issued by the Indian Embassy said, “OCI cards need to be re-issued each time a new passport is acquired by cardholders up to the age of 20 years. OCI cards are required to be mandatorily issued once after completing 50 years of age, irrespective of whether or not the cardholder has obtained a new passport.

“Reissuance of OCI cards are not mandatory each time a new passport is issued for people between 21 and 50 years of age,” added the embassy. “However, if the applicant wishes to apply for this service, he/she can apply for the same.”
