Muscat: The Ministry of Manpower organised, a meeting for employers at Oman Tourism College to discuss Omanisation percentages in the tourism sector as part of the national programme for economic diversification.
The meeting discussed employment, training and development of Omani manpower working in the tourism sector.
The meeting also discussed the mechanism to overcome the challenges facing Omanisation and the proposed solutions.
Salim bin Nasir Al Hadhrami, Director General of Planning and Development at the Ministry of Manpower said that the said initiative was one of the programmes of Tanfeedh.
A committee has been formed at the Ministry for dealing with Omanisation policy and the way to increase Omanisation percentage in this sector, he added. A number of hotels were invited to the meeting and a number of companies operating in travel and tourism would be invited for a future meeting on the issue, he added.
