Criteria for Omani dishdasha to be issued soon: Ministry of Commerce and Industry

Muscat: Standardised criteria for tailoring the traditional Omani male dress, the dishdasha, is expected to be issued next week, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on Sunday.
“To conserve the Omani identity” the ministry will declare five dresses that are commonly worn in different governorates of the Sultanate.
This comes after consulting experienced Omani tailors, the ministry said.
Earlier this year, the ministry banned importing clothes, fabrics, textiles, shoes and any goods that contain immoral images, logos, phrases, abusive language, or statements against religion, or related to any terrorist organisation.
It has also inspected a number of clothes shops in different parts of the Sultanate to ensure that there are no displayed clothes that “violate the Omani standards by including drawing or designs to the dress which harm the public taste”.
