Doha: Oman’s national football team arrived yesterday in Doha for the 2019 Arabian Gulf Cup, which is set to begin on 26 November.

The Sultanate’s national team touched down in Qatar and were accorded a traditional Qatari welcome, complete with little children offering the sportsmen bouquets of flowers as they exited Hamad International Airport.

Oman have been drawn in Group B at the Gulf Cup, with their first game against Bahrain on Wednesday, 27 November. The other two teams in their group are Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

While the defending champions are in Group B, Group A consists of hosts Qatar, as well as the United Arab Emirates, Yemen and Iraq, who will play Qatar in the Gulf Cup opener on Tuesday the 26th. The Gulf Cup will run from 26 November to 8 December.

A statement from the Oman Football Association said, “The local organising committee of the Arabian Gulf Cup met with the players of our senior national team this morning. During the lecture, the laws of the tournament and the media aspects were discussed, in addition to the places allocated for the treatment and rehabilitation of players during the tournament, and other matters concerning the players.”

“The Oman national team delegation arrived in Doha earlier today, ahead of their participation in the Gulf Cup2019!” added the Qatar Football Association, on Saturday. “Welcome to Qatar!”
