In the maiden championship, six teams battled for top honours with Al Ittifaq emerging the inaugural champions.
The second and third places went to Ahli-Sidab B and Ahli Sidab A respectively.
In the individual honours, Al Ittifaq’s Sara bint Ali Al Ismaili emerged the best player of the championship while her teammate Sheikha bint Abdullah Al Shibli took the best goalkeeper prize. Ahli-Sidab’s Liqa bint Abdullah Al Hosni was the tournament’s top scorer.
In her remarks, Her Highness Dr. Mona bint Fahd praised the efforts of the OFA and pointed to the role the woman can play in the sports field.
OFA chief Salim Al Wahaibi expressed his delight over the success of the first futsal championship organised by OFA’s women’s football committee while thanking the members of the organising committee for the success of the championship.
The OFA organised the championship with the main objective of selecting a team that will represent the Sultanate in the GCC Women’s Futsal Championship to be organised in Bahrain in February.
