Oman's Fatma Al Nabhani settles for doubles second place in Glasgow

Muscat: Omani ace Fatma Al Nabhani settled for second place in the doubles competition of the $10,000 ITF Pro Circuit Tournament in Glasgow on Saturday.
According to information received here, Fatma and her German partner Anna Zaja fought bravely in a closely-contested final before going down to Switzerland’s Nina Stadler and Belgian Kimberley Zimmermann 2-6, 6-7 (7).
Fatma and Zaja, who were third seeds, reached the summit clash after defeating Italy’s Deborah Cheisa and Finlan’s Mia Nicole Eklund 6-4, 6-2 in the semifinals.
In the quarterfinals, Fatma and Zaja defeated British duo of Sarah Beth Askew and Olivia Nicholls 6-3, 7-6 (5) after accounting for Norway’s Emma Flood and Bosnian Jasmina Tinjic 4-6, 6-3 (10-3) in their first outings.
Fatma also took part in the singles competition but the top-seeded Omani’s compaign ended in the first round when she lost to Maia Lumsden 6-2, 6-0.
