Oman's Tanfeedh lab to focus on fisheries, mining, and an 'enabling' sector

Muscat: Three more sectors will be targeted by Tanfeedh in the coming weeks, according to Talal Sulaiman Al Rahbi, deputy secretary-general of the Supreme Council for Planning.
Another six weeks will be dedicated to highlight the fisheries and mining sectors, in addition to an “enabling sector”, he told Times of Oman in an exclusive interview.
“We will include one enabling sector too but we will announce it later,” he explained.
According to a report released by Tanfeedh, both fisheries and mining sectors are expected to increase by 0.1 per cent by the year 2020.
The halls were busy with visitors since it was opened at 9am as young Omanis and expatriates showed interest in the plans, expressing their interest in shaping the future of the country.
Al Rahbi, also seemed very optimistic as he was bombarded with questions from different reporters.
“We can see a lot of interest only few hours after opening” he said, adding that he expects more people to come in the evenings.
“Setting expectations doesn’t happen overnight. These are major projects. Some of them will take place in 2017, 2018 and some in 2021, according to the plan,” he added.
