Stockholm: In coincidence with the Sultanate’s celebrations of the 46th Glorious National Day, the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) celebrated at Halmstad in Sweden handing over the Sultan Qaboos Award for Sailing in a ceremony held under the patronage of Commodore Said bin Abdullah Al Sa’edi, Senior Staff Officer at the RNO Command.
The Sail Training Association Germany won the 6th edition of the award due to its achievements in sail training.
Several naval government and private organisations, as well as those interested in global sailing competed for the award.
The winner was chosen during the annual conference of the Sail Training International (STI). The conference addressed various developments in relation to sail training at the world level, in addition to reviewing lessons benefited from STI competitions.
The award’s handing over ceremony was attended by RNO personnel, officials at Halmstad, STI Chairman, members of the STI Board of Trustees and heads of sail organisations.
