Oman tennis: Fatma Al Nabhani reaches semifinals at Arab Tennis Championships

Muscat: Omani star Fatma Al Nabhani stormed into the singles semifinals of the ongoing Arab Tennis Championships in Morocco on Monday.
On a day of mixed results for the Sultanate, Fatma brushed aside the challenge of local girl Lilia Hadab for a place in the last four.
In a dominant display, the top seeded Omani conceded just one game in a straight sets 6-0, 6-1 win over the Moroccan lass.
Meanwhile, Fatma’s compatriot Sara Al Balushi failed to moved up after losing her second round match 6-0, 6-2 against Moroccan third seed Lamia Aziz.
Fatma was scheduled to have played Lamia in Tuesday’s semifinals but the entire day’s action was washed out by rain.
Among the matches that were affected by rain were doubles contests involving Fatma and Sara against Tunisians Chiraz El Bechri and Mouna Bouzgarou, and Younis Al Rawahi and Abdullah Al Barwani against Kuwaiti duo of Abdullah Maqdes and Mohammed Ghareeb.
In the men’s singles, the challenge of four players ended in the second round.
Abdullah Al Barwani put up a semblance of fight in his 3-6, 2-6 defeat to Tunisian sixth seed Mohammed Al Bellalouna.
Abdulrahman Al Hajri was beaten 6-0, 6-0 Khalid Allouch of Morocco, Younis Al Rawahi lost by a similar margin to Abdullah Maqdes of Kuwait and Fawaz Al Mandari managed to win four games in his 1-6, 3-6 loss to Morocco’s Yassine Idmbarek.
