Workshop on liquidity and capital planning ends today

Muscat: A workshop on capital planning and liquidity under Basel III organised by Central Bank of Oman and the Union of Arab Banks (UAB) was inaugurated at in Muscat on Sunday
Ali Hamdan Al Raisi, VP Banking Oversight at the Central Bank of Oman, inaugurated the proceedings of the specialised workshop held by CBO in collaboration with Union of Arab Banks in Lebanon.
This training programme is the second of its kind this year held in Muscat governorate, titled ‘Capital Planning and Liquidity under Basel III’. The workshop will conclude on Tuesday.
The three-day workshop will focus on discussing internal capital planning processes and capital adequacy, as well as the ability to maintain sufficient capital to withstand a situation of severe liquidity stress to align the capital base with the bank’s risk assessment.
The workshop will also address methods of handling low liquidity issues during crises and guidelines prescribed by Basel III on adhering to the new capital components and new liquidity criteria.
Eminent speaker from UAB Rabih Nehme, head of Risk Assessment Department, Banking Control Commission of Lebanon (BCCL), conducted the workshop.
