Majlis Al Shura to discuss state budget 2017

Muscat: Majlis Al Shura will host today Darwish bin Ismail Al Balushi, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs, to discuss the state budget for the fiscal year, 2017 at a non-public session.
It will be its 3rd regular session of the 2nd annual sitting (2016/2017) of the 8th term (2015-2019).
The members of Majlis Al Shura voted by 63 per cent on the confidentiality of the meeting, based on Article ( 58) bis (31) of the Basic Law of the State, and the Article (90) of Majlis Al Shura’s by law.
Majlis Al Shura yesterday held its 2nd regular session of the 2nd annual sitting (2016/2017) of the 8th term under the chair of Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura.
The session began with a speech by the Chairman of Majlis Al Shura, in which he pointed out that Shura will complete in this session the discussion and approval of the action plans and programmes of the committees for the second annual sitting, listening to a number of responses of the ministers and some officials in answering the questions posed to them in writing.
Majlis Al Shura’s members approved the action plans submitted by the permanent committees for the 2nd annual sitting (2016-2017).
These committees are Youth and Human Resources Committee, Food and Water Security Committee, and Media and culture Committee.
It is to be noted that Majlis Al Shura approved the action plans of other committees in its 1st regular session.
The rapporteurs of the Standing Committees read their action plans before the members of Majlis Al Shura for their feedback. The action plans included several draft laws, agreements and topics expected to be referred to the Council of Ministers.
