Muscat: Three people were injured on Saturday when lightning struck in Sohar, the Royal Oman Police reported.

“One of them is in a critical stage and we have evacuated the person to Sohar hospital,” ROP said in a statement.

Due to deep air depression, the Sultanate has been experiencing heavy rainfall, thunderstorm and strong winds in North Al Batinah region.

Meanwhile, Omani citizens helped a family who were stuck in Al Qulaiya’a valley in Al Khabourah. “The family is in safe and good health,” ROP said.

ROP has called for residents of the Sultanate to take caution while venturing out of their homes and has advised against taking the risk of crossing valleys while water is flowing.
