Recovery continues on Muscat bourse

Muscat: Shares on the Muscat bourse recovered on the second consecutive day. The MSM30 Index ended the session with gains of 0.22 per cent to finish at 5,493.82 points. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 846.30 points, up by 0.05 per cent.
Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat led in terms of turnover. Al Hassan Engineering, up by 7.55 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Jazeera Services was the top loser, with a loss of 2.04 per cent.
As many as 590 trades were executed on Wednesday, generating turnover of OMR2.03 million with 10.3 million shares changing hands. Out of 46 traded securities, 20 advanced, seven declined and 19 remained unchanged. Arab and GCC investors stayed net buyers to the tune of OMR119,000 worth of shares while Omani investors were net sellers at OMR82,000 followed by foreign investors at OMR37,000.
Financial Index continued its recovery to end at 7,186.92 points, up by 0.47 per cent. Gulf Investment Services, Al Sharqia Investments, Al Anwar Holding, Takaful Oman and Al Madina Investments increased by 2.78 per cent, 2.44 per cent, 2.42 per cent, 2.22 per cent and 1.85 per cent, respectively. Al Madina Takaful and Oman & Emirates Holding declinedby 1.35 per cent and 0.81 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index gained 0.11 per cent to close at 7,174.27 points. Al Hassan Engineering, Construction Materials, Oman Fisheries, National Aluminium and Galfar Engineering gained 7.55 per cent, 3.23 per cent, 1.64 per cent, 1.52 per cent and 1.11 per cent. Al Jazeera Steel and Al Anwar Ceramics lost 0.88 per cent and 0.61 per cent, respectively.
Services Index ended on a flat note at 3,008.56 points, up by 0.03 per cent. OIFC, Sembcorp Salalah and Port Services increased by 1.08 per cent, 0.43 per cent and 0.43 per cent, respectively. Al Jazeera Services, Oman National Engineering and Al Maha Petroleum declined by 2.04 per cent, 0.63 per cent and 0.35 per cent, respectively.
