Pakistani expats asked to register at embassy

Muscat: The Embassy of Pakistan in the Sultanate has asked all its nationals to register themselves with the embassy at the earliest.
Talking to the Times of Oman, the official spokesperson at the embassy said they had recently launched a service which required all Pakistani residents in Oman to register with them.
“We have recently launched this service which is more like a directory for the embassy,” said the official.
“This has been done for the ease and comfort of Pakistani residents across the country so that we can help them when they need. Having registered at the embassy makes our job easier by keeping track of both inflow and outflow of Pakistani nationals as well as their profession in the country. Therefore, we request all the respectable Pakistani residents to come forward and register themselves as well as their families with us.”
The spokesperson added that more than 500 Pakistani residents have registered themselves through WhatsApp and email address services provided by the embassy. To register, Pakistani residents can send their details at [email protected] or WhatsApp at 98577355.
“The following particulars may be provided while getting registered with the embassy: name, father’s name, passport number, labour card number, copy of national identity card (CNIC), complete residential address and a contact number in Pakistan and Oman, contact numbers in case of emergency, profession, company name and contact details, and the date of arrival in Oman,” the official said.
According to the data provided by Oman’s National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the current number of Pakistani workers residing in the Sultanate as of September 2019 is 209,456.
The NCSI also revealed that the Pakistani workforce in the country has declined by 5.3 per cent compared to the same time period last year.
In addition to that, the number is on a gradual decline compared to the total number of Pakistani workforce at the end of December 2018 which stood at 217,602, the data from the NCSI revealed.
