#OmanPride: Candle light flag event seeks to break record

Muscat: On Monday, 2016 candles will light up the Qurum amphitheater and form the shape and colours of the Oman Flag, in an initiative by the fellowship fund for the employees of the Ministry of Health, in a hope to enter the Guinness book of records. The event organisers said that officials from the United Kingdom will attend the event and might hand them the certificate of the Guinness book of records in ‘Most people holding candles simultaneously’ Students from three Omani schools and Philippine School Muscat will be singing a song ahead of the event. A ballet by 50 Philippine school students will also be held. According to Khalid Al Balushi, one the organisers, this will be largest gathering of humans holding candles, breaking the world record which was set in China in 2015. “However, the event will not be open for public and due to safety reasons, candle holders will be above the age of 18 and there would be at least 200 organisers to supervise the event,” the organisers added.
