Oman Industry Week 2020 to highlight strengths and challenges in sector

Muscat: The Oman Industry Week 2020 will highlight achievements in the industrial sector during 50 years of Renaissance in the Sultanate.

This was announced on Tuesday at a press conference to discuss details of the event in the presence of H.E. Mohsen bin Khamis Al Balushi, advisor of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Through Oman Industry Week 2020, the Ministry aims to highlight joint cooperation between the government and private sectors to support and develop Omani industry and other allied sectors, discuss new opportunities in the sector through the meetings of workers in the industrial sector, promote Omani industry by highlighting the role of industrial partners in the development and diversification of the Omani economy and to discuss challenges faced by the industrial sector alongwith the development of a plan for the requirements of the next phase.

The Oman Industry Week begins every year on the 9th of February, in honor of the visit of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, to the Al-Rasil Industrial Zone in 1991.
This year, the event will include a meeting between H.E. Dr. Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry and industrialists besides the presence of a large number of CEOs from the manufacturing sector.

As part of the meeting, the most prominent achievements of the Omani industry during the whole year, as well as the main challenges facing Omani industry and industrialists will be highlighted. The meeting will also include the launch of Oman Industry Book which tells the story of Oman’s industry during the last five decades of the blessed Renaissance.

During the week, a products exhibition will be organised and more than 150 Omani industrial companies from various industrial sectors will participate.

100 factories will compete this year for the Sultan Qaboos Industrial Excellence Award, which is considered the first competition organized for the industrial sector in the Sultanate. The competition is held every two years to contribute to the development of the Omani industry.

In addition to the other criteria as leadership, production processes, manufacturing processes, relationship With customers, the results of employee performance, industrial performance, financial performance, marketing performance, and social responsibility which is branched into charitable initiatives and environmental initiatives, and finally security and safety.

A website for the Omani Industry Week 2020 will also be launched in the near future.
