GCC Economic, Development Affairs holds maiden meet

Muscat: Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, took part in a meeting of the GCC Economic and Development Affairs Authority, which was held in Riyadh on Thursday.
Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Crown Prince, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Defence, stressed that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries as one bloc have an opportunity to be the sixth largest economy in the world if they worked properly in the coming years. “Today we are trying to take advantage of these opportunities, especially as we are in an era marred by economic fluctuations. Therefore, we need to work together in the era of blocs,” he added.
The Authority’s first meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in the presence of Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs of UAE, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad al Khalifa, Representative of Bahrain’s King for Charity and Youth Affairs; Qatar’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al Thani; Kuwait’s Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Mubarak al Sabah; and GCC Secretary-General Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid al Zayani.
