Muscat: Former United States President George W. Bush — who governed from 2001 to 2009 — is on a three-day visit to Oman.
He arrived in Oman on Sunday, 27 October and will be in the Sultanate until Tuesday, 29 October. During his visit, Bush toured several tourist places in the Sultanate, including the Nizwa Commercial Market on Tuesday.
Shames, the owner of Halwa Al Saifi — a shop that Bush visited — said: “We were honoured that George W. Bush visited our shop in Nizwa Central Market.”
George W. Bush also visited Al Mantheri Omani dates store, and many Omanis and expats who live in the country took photos with the former US President when he was in the country. Omanis in the country took to social media to express their surprise on seeing Bush in the country, given that his visit had not been previously made public and few knew about his arrival.
“George Bush is in Nizwa and many have taken a photo to have a memory of his visit,” said one Omani citizen.
