Cyclone Kyarr weakens near Oman, intensity downgraded

Muscat: Tropical cyclone Kyarr has started receding while wilayats on the coastline of the Sultanate have been witnessing sporadic rains.

According to an alert published by the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) online, the classification of Kyarr has been downgraded to a class three cyclone.

The National Center for Early Warning said that the centre of the cyclone is around 600 km from Ras Madarakah. "It will continue movement west / northwest during the next 36 hours before deviating towards the southwest direction.”

“Weather condition is generally clear over most of the Sultanate's governorates with the possibility of clouds and sporadic rainfall over the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and costal wilayats of the Arabian Sea.”

The Public Authority for Civil Defense and Ambulance (PACDA) said in a statement, ”PACA is following up the tropical situation in the Arabian Sea in coordination with the Public Authority for Civil Aviation. It stresses that the civil defense and ambulance centers in all governorates of the Sultanate are fully prepared to deal with the developments of the situation and for any emergency requiring the intervention of the teams of the Authority .”
