Muscat: Tropical Cyclone Kyarr, that has formed over the eastern Arabian Sea near the Indian coast could intensify into a Category 2 Cyclone in the coming days.
The latest weather forecast shows evidence of westerly to north-westerly movement towards the central Arabian Sea. It is currently located around 350 kilometres away from the Indian coastline and around 1,350 kilometres away from the closest point to Oman at Ras Mudrakah.
According to the Public Authority for Civil Aviation, ".... movement towards central Arabian Sea with probability of further intensification into a tropical cyclone (category 2) within the coming 24 hours with no direct impact over the Sultanate coasts during the next 4 days”
PACA also estimated moderate to rough seas with maximum wave heights observed along the coasts of South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, and Dhofar with possibilities of seawater inundation into low-level coastal areas starting today afternoon.
