Oman bars advertising of unapproved training programmes of private institutes

Muscat: Private training institutions are prevented from advertising for training programs without obtaining the proper licenses from the Ministry of Manpower.
The ministry issued a statement directed toward training institutes to refrain from advertising their programs without prior approval to undergo the programs.
“The ministry realized lately that private training institutes are continuing to advertise and promote their programs and services in local papers, advertising mediums and social media without prior approval from the ministry,” said the statement.
“We urge all private training institutes to follow the directives and refrain from advertising before receiving an approval and abstain from executing training activities prior to obtaining an official approval from the Department of Private Training Establishments,” added the ministry.
Following the executive regulations regarding private training institutions (490/2010) the penalty for advertising of executing a training program without prior approval from the ministry could go up to revoking the license to practice the trade.
“Those who wish to sign up to any training program, we advise to check the legitimacy of the course or refer to the department at the ministry to get details on the program,” said the ministry.
