Festival of India planned in Oman

Muscat: A five month long Festival of India is planned in four major cities of Oman.

Officials said that the festival will begin from November 2016 and will go on until March 2017 in Muscat, Sur, Sohar and Salalah.

For this, the Embassy of India in Muscat with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India will bring Indian artists to showcase their talent to the citizens and expatriates living in Oman, the Indian Embassy officials announced on Monday.

The festival will comprise Indian ballet and folk dances, Indian instrumental music, an exhibition of Indian calligraphy, a food festival and fashion show.

The festival is being organized to present to the people of Oman glimpses of Indian culture, representing diverse traditions of Indian heritage.

According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the number of Indians stands at 695,251 in October 2016.
