Experts discuss progress of Islamic banking in Oman

Muscat: A key meeting discussed the progress of Islamic banking in Oman, challenges faced by the industry, need for market awareness and key role of Sharia Supervisory Boards (SSBs) in training and awareness of Islamic banking.
In addition, High Sharia Supervisory Authority met with members of SSBs of Islamic banks and Islamic banking windows of conventional banks.
The second meeting of 2016 HSSA was held on Monday at the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) head office and was chaired by Shaikh Dr Kahlan Bin Nabhan Al Kharoosi and attended by all its members.
HSSA made detailed deliberations on the issues presented to it, covering various Sharia aspects relating to Islamic banking business in Oman and gave its opinions in light of the discussions.
