Oman's share index closes lower marginally

Muscat: MSM30 index closed down by 0.26% at 3,996.45 points. The Sharia Index closed down by 0.11% at 541.02 points. Meethaq Sukuk Series 2, up 3.75%, was the top gainer. Gulf Hotels, down 6.85%, was the top loser. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of the number of shares as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 305 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR 2.20 million with more than 18.6 million shares changing hands. Out of 41 traded stocks, 4 advanced, 14 declined and 23 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR 128,000 while local investors were net sellers for OMR73,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR 55,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,481.85 points, down 0.27%. Global Financial Investment was up by 3.75 %. Oman & Qatar Insurance, Al Madina Investment, Vision Insurance, Muscat Finance and Bank Dhofar were down by 5.05%, 4.55%, 2.83%, 1.61% and 1.60% respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,303.67 points, down 0.01%. No gainers from the Industrial sector today. Dhofar Cattle Feed was down by 2.2%.
Services index closed down 0.12% at 1,939.89 points. Al Batinah Power and Sembcorp Salalah were up by 2.74% and 0.82% respectively. Gulf Hotels, Phoenix Power, Muscat City, Ooredoo and Renaissance were down by 6.85%, 1.2%, 0.94%, 0.76% and 0.37% respectively.
