ISWK Organizes Inter-School Competition “INSPIRITOURISM”

Muscat: The Commerce Department at Indian School Wadi Kabir has organized “Inspiritourism”—an inter-school business promotion competition. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Ganesh Thangavel, Chief Financial Officer at Bank Muscat SAOG. Mr Ganesh is also a member ISWK School Management Committee.

The panel of judges included Mrs. Amira Al Khatri, Head Marketing Department, Salman Corporation; Mr. Pankaj Sharma, Senior Editor at Times of Oman; Mrs. Jhumpa Chakraborty and Ms. Aishwarya Sekar, both renowned personalities in the field of Dancing.

A total of six teams from Indian Schools Ghubra, Muscat, Seeb, Muladha, Maabela as well as the host school participated in the competition which had two components: drawing up of a business plan to promote tourism in Oman, and performing a dance depicting the culture of a given country.

The team comprising of Mahalaxmi Katari, Shawn Sabu & Sonu of ISWK won the First position in the Business Promotion Competition whereas ISG emerged winners in the Dance competition. The host school ISWK clinched the Overall Best School trophy. ISG finished at the
First Runners-Up and ISM at Second Runners-Up positions.

The Department of Commerce at ISWK brings in something novel and unique each year by way of a competition to help commerce students to hone their entrepreneurial skills as well as apply theoretical concepts to the real-world business propositions. It is hoped that the students’ active participation in this event broadened their outlook on the real world socio- economic issue, as well as enhanced their understanding of certain key business concepts. The event also allowed them to exercise their creativity and gain self-confidence.
