IT Works stuns PTI, Assarain routs Renaissance

MUSCAT: Nester Dhamba’s 5 for 21 was instrumental in IT Works upsetting a depleted Passage to India (PTI) side in a Premier Division 50-over League game at Oman Cricket grassy ground 1 on Saturday.

Missing as many as six of its first eleven side, PTI stuttered for a start before struggling its way to a premature stop at 110 all out in the 34 th over. Apart from Dhamb’s superb spell, Imran Muhammed bowled well too, taking 3 for 18.

Kashyap Prajapati was PTI’s lone warrior, scoring a fighting 52 off 70. Having to chase a small total, IT Works raced to the target in just 22.4 overs, scoring 113 for 3. Dhamba excelled with the bat too, scoring a solid 52 off 54 to lead his side to a 7-wicket win. Akmal Shahzad contributed a useful 30.

Missing a number of its star players, away on national duty in UAE, Assarain made sure Renaissance did not post a challenging total on the board, restricting the Premier Division newcomers to 177 for 9 in 50 overs. Bowling with great discipline, Shakeel Ahmed, Sindo Michael and Rafi Ulllah all claimed two wickets each.
The run chase proved to be a little more than a cake walk for Assarain as it raced to the target in just 20.1 overs, scoring 181 for 3. Apart from Pandarathil, Khadil Kail and Sanuth Ebrahim batted well too, contributing fluent 43 and 37
