Duchess of Cornwall Camilla visits Let's Read bookshop in Oman

Muscat: HRH Camilla made her first stop at the ‘Let’s Read’ bookshop in Qurum, where the campaign founder, Jane Jaffer, escorted the Duchess to the bookstore and down into a reading tent. Wearing a turquoise blue jacket and smiling cheek to cheek, Camilla sat down amongst a dozen excited children from Our Planet and listened to ‘Dana the Dolphin’ being read in Arabic. Outside the Qurum Complex, the Makatabi bus was waiting for its honored guest to hop on. Makatabi is the first and only mobile library that tours schools and villages across Oman, giving children access to books in both English and Arabic.
Bookstore volunteer Shara Ahamed was delighted by Camillia’s visit. “It was actually wonderful. We never expected to have such important people come to visit. We are all happy, the complex is happy, and it was great publicity. We are really very happy,” she said.
The Duchess’ next stop was the Children’s Public Library where she was given a tour of the facility. She met with the founders of the library and three teenage winners of a writing competition.
