Hefty fines for violations in public parks and beaches in Oman

Muscat: Violations in public parks may cost you more than OMR 200 in fines. Muscat Municipality has asked the visitors to adhere to municipal rules and instructions.

According to Muscat Municipality, Barbeques in parks and at beaches is prohibited and violators would be fined OMR 100 while leaving garbage at unspecified location would also attract a fine of OMR 100. There is also a fine of OMR 20 for spitting in public areas.

The Municipality's rules also include a ban on dogs, bikes and the playing of football at these places.

The Municipality said in a statement online: "Dear visitors to parks and beaches, your keenness to abide by the regulations and instructions expresses your appreciation of municipality service achievements and your support for the efforts of the Municipality of Muscat aimed at the sustainability of these facilities."

"The Municipality welcomes you and wishes you a great time, we hope that our dear visitors follow the instructions and parents keep children under their supervision, don't allow children to play with electric wires and cables and help in keeping all property of the park safe and clean."
