Family medicine conference begins in Oman

Muscat: In the presence of more than 350 participants, the first family medicine conference was inaugurated today in the Sultanate.

Dr. Fathiya Al Qassabi, Senior Consultant Family Physician at the Ministry of Health said, "The conference aims to exchange experiences and help participants get acquainted with the latest developments in the field of family medicine, which contributes to raise the level of medical care for the individual and the community as well as support research and training in the field of family medicine."

The conference is organized by the Oman Family Medicine Society in collaboration with Sultan Qaboos University Hospital. A number of scientific papers will be presented on topics related to family medicine such as cancer preventing programs, communicable diseases and new therapies for diabetes.

Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Mahrezi, President of the Oman Family Medicine Society said: "We have chosen 'Family Medicine towards Healthy Community' as the theme of the conference for this year and we are strongly convinced that all participants will contribute to the success of the event by sharing their know-how and integrating their experiences in a lively and useful exchange."
