Muscat: Tanfeedh - the National Programme for Enhancing Economic Diversification — ended its phase two with an event held at the Oman Exhibition and Convention Centre.
The six week-long phase concluded with presentations from Sultan Al Habsi, secretary general of the Supreme Council for Planning, Idris Jala, chief executive officer of the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU) and Eyhab Al Hajj, deputy general coordinator of Tanfeedh.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture.
The labs were part of a six week plan aimed at formulating the second step out of eight. It included 274 lab members, 160 organisations, 51,786 man hours, five labs, 112 projects and nearly 2,000 pages.
The aim of the event was to address the improvement in the GDP of the industrial, tourism and logistics sectors, along with Omanisation and job opportunities.
Commenting on the Tanfeedh labs, Jala said the lab has resulted in high quality output, with a balanced range of realism and aspiration. He also mentioned that Oman is moving faster than Malaysia in deploying similar strategies by taking nearly a month lesser.
Jala also commended the work done by Talal Al Rahbi, deputy secretary general of the Supreme Council of Planning, and his team was excellent.
The next phase would include a public exhibition scheduled to be held from November 20 to 22 this year at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
