Euromena conference begins in Oman

Muscat: The joint conference between the European Group for the Public Administration (EGPA), Aix-Marseille University, the Middle East and North Africa Public Administration Research (MENAPAR) network, the Sultanate's Institute of Public Administration (IPA) and the Institute of Public Administration (IPA) in the Kingdom of Bahrain began at Millennium Hotel on Tuesday under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Asa'ad bin Tariq Al Said.
The conference discusses topics related to the human resources and team management tools, as well as reviewing leadership models that affect behaviors, which stimulate work and encourage the collective work. It also discusses the performance of government institutions for a new model of human resources management, besides reviewing areas of administrative and financial auditing.
The most importance goals of the conference are exchanging expertise among government agencies in the European countries and their Arab counterparts, enhancing youth research capabilities and developing cooperation mechanisms in projects of public management practices. It also aims at presenting best experiences and administrative practices in the EUROMENA region and the ability to transform and exchange them among the countries.
HH Sayyid Asa'ad bin Tariq al-Said said in a statement after the opening ceremony that the Royal Directives of His Majesty the Sultan have been always stressing the importance of supporting human resources, polishing, qualifying and training them as the human element is the main objective of development.
HH Sayyid As'ad pointed out that through his view to the themes being addressed by the conference that discuss the latest developments and experiences followed in management of human resources and their key role in developing government work as per the latest methods of public administration, the importance of the conference clearly appears since the launching of the conference in 2008 as it witnesses participation of elite speakers and participants from Arab and European countries who have leading experience in this field.
HH Sayyid Asa'ad affirmed that selecting the Sultanate to hold this session of the global conference undoubtedly reflects the good reputation and appreciation of international organizations for the Sultanate, as well as its stances supporting the organization of such conferences that enhance knowledge exchange among various countries.
Sheikh Omar bin Said al-Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service, Chairman of the IPA Board of Directors said that hosting this conference by the IPA creates a position for the Institute at the international map. He added that this qualitative conference, which is organized, in partnership between European Group for the Public Administration (EGPA), Aix-Marseille University, the Middle East and North Africa Public Administration Research (MENAPAR) network, attracts since its launching in 2008 a prestigious elite of public administration experts from Asia, Europe and Africa. It also witnesses a broad participation that reflects its global reputation.
During the sidelines of the conference, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Sultanate's IPA and the Institute of Public Administration (IPA) in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The MoU was signed on behalf of the Omani side by Sheikh Omar bin Said al-Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service, Chairman of the IPA Board of Directors, whilst it was signed from the Bahraini side by Ahmed bin Zayed al-Zayed, President of the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) and Chairman of the IPA Board in the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain.
Signing the MoU stems from the distinguished relations and the constructive cooperation between the two brotherly countries in all areas.
The 1st day of the conference included several sessions that covered many themes in human resources.
