Barka Marina to create 1,500 jobs for Omanis

Muscat: Barka Marina, the upcoming charming seafront, will be a turning point for the country’s economy, tourism and marine projects in the Sultanate, according to the chairman of Siyabi International. Sheikh Salim bin Ali Al Siyabi, chairman of the Siyabi International, said: “The project stands on a strong platform and includes millions of concepts. I thank the government authorities for showing their interest. It is a diversified project and will have unique malls and souqs with an important role for the Omani private sector.
He said the project would give 1,500 job opportunities to local youth and priority will be given to the SMEs.
“The seafront is expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors daily,” he added.
In a press conference held for Barka Marina Project, Al Siyabi said, “The first phase of the project located in the Wilayat of Barka will involve an expenditure of OMR55 million. It will have a distinctive style executed by an Omani company and will serve as a model for those in other areas.”
He also said this project would support the Sultanate’s plan for economic diversification as desired by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
The project has found great attention of the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Dr Hamad Al Aufi, who has paid a field visits to the area and also Dr Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidi, minister of Commerce & Industry and the deputy chairman for the Supreme Council for Planning.
Sheikh Salim said that he was looking forward for the inauguration of the first stage of the project while celebrating National Day on 18 November this year.
He said that the project will include more than 450 residential units.
