Fahd praises growing Oman-Thailand ties

Muscat: His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers on Monday received Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand. The Thai Deputy Prime Minister conveyed the greetings of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand and the Thai government along with their best wishes of continuous success to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and the government and the Omani people further welfare and growth. After welcoming the guest and his accompanying delegation, Sayyid Fahd commended the growing relations between the two countries and the remarkable progress witnessed by such relations during the previous years that depicted the two sides’ keenness to work together in the interest of the people. Sayyid Fahd also reviewed the keenness of Thailand to promote the relations with the Sultanate to achieve the aspirations of people in both countries. The two sides discussed means of supporting and developing the joint cooperation in areas of trade and economy exchange and joint investments particularly in relation to the role of businessmen and the private sector in promoting trade opportunities available in both countries, in addition to reviewing issues of common concern. The Thai Deputy Prime Minister expressed his gratitude and that of his accompanying delegation to visit the Sultanate, which provided them with the opportunity to closely view the remarkable development being witnessed by the Sultanate. He stressed the importance of enhancing this cooperation and expanding its fields. On his turn, Sayyid Fahd asked the Thai Deputy Prime Minister to convey greetings of His Majesty the Sultan along with best wishes to the King of Thailand and the government and the Thai people The meeting was attended by Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, Darwish bin Ismail Al Balushi, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs, Dr. Ali bin Mas’oud Al Sunaidi, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Salim bin Nasser Al Ismaili, Chairman of the Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development, Ahmed bin Nasser Al-Meherzi, Minister of Tourism and Said bin Saleh Al Kiyoumi, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry while it was attended from the Thai side by the ministers accompanying the Thai Deputy Prime Minister.
