Golf: Ras Al Hamra team walks away with Chrysler Cup

Muscat: The Chrysler Cup 2016, Oman’s premium inter-club team golf tournament organised by Dhofar Automotive in association with Oman Golf Committee concluded recently with the Ras Al Hamra Golf Club emerging as clear winners of the tournament.
Modelled as per the Ryder’s Cup, the two-day event witnessed intense competition between the teams from the Ghala Golf Club, Almouj Golf Club, Ras Al Hamra Club and Muscat Hills Golf Club. Day 1 of the tournament involved ‘Greensomes & Fourball’ match play with Ras Al Hamra Team in the lead, followed by teams from Al Mouj, Muscat Hills and Ghala Golf respectively. Day 2 hosted the ‘Singles’ bringing out some amazing performances from the golfers with Muscat Hills doing exceptionally well and pushing the defending champions Almouj Golf to the third place. This year featured the all-new 2016 Chrysler 200C was up for grabs to whosoever could score a hole-in-one at Hole no.2. All of the participating golfers did their best to drive home the Chrysler 200C and a few players came very close to doing so. Unfortunately, no one succeeded in scoring a hole-in-one.
The event concluded with the presentation ceremony where Mr. Ziyad Al Zubair, Board Member of Dhofar Automotive, gave away trophies to the participating & winning teams. The ceremony saw the players unwinding and cheering their rivals after two days of intense competition.
Accepting the rolling trophy on behalf of the Ras Al Hamra Golf Club, captain Ian Liversage said, “It was a lot of fun competing with some great players this year. Our team is thankful to Dhofar Automotive for organizing such a successful event along with the support from OGC. This is one of the best tournaments we’ve played at. I am extremely proud of my team’s effort and I look forward to bringing back the trophy to Ras Al Hamra next year!”
