Preparations for municipal elections in Oman to be intensified

Muscat: Preparations for the second municipal councils elections in the various governorates, scheduled to be held late this year are being intensified.
Registration of new voters for the purpose began on June 12. The Municipal elections are very important as they allow citizens to be involved in the municipal work and help develop their wilayats.
They also encourage voluntary work and responses to the needs of the citizens at the wilayat level.
The municipal councils’ term is four years, thus allowing youths and those interested in voluntary and municipal work to engage in more meaningful and extensive communication with the citizens in the various wilayats.
The municipal council elections, as it is the case with Majlis Al Shura elections, enhances the national development efforts made by the government and the vital role played in the effort by the Council of Oman.
It is, therefore, very important to select the best candidates to achieve the interests of the wilayats , governorates and the Sultanate as a whole and achieve the aims outlined by His Majesty the Sultan in this field.
