iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus come to Oman

Muscat: iPhone7 and iPhone7 plus, two of the most awaited phones of the year have finally been launched in the Sultanante, and fans in Muscat have given the latest Apple smartphones a warm welcome.
A salesman from an official reseller of Apple products confirmed that with Apple’s official launch of the iPhone7 and iPhone7 plus in Oman, the phones will be on sale starting today.
“We are selling the phones from October 15, this comes with Apple’s official launch of the phones in Oman. Prices of the iPhone7 32GB is OMR290, 128GB is for OMR335 and 256GB is priced at OMR380. The iPhone7 plus is also available in 32GB costing OMR345, 128 GB is offered at OMR390 and the 256GB is for OMR435.”
Grand celebrations
Along with the official reseller, Omantel and Ooredoo, two of the country’s biggest telecom providers also held grand celebrations at the Muscat Grand Mall (MGM) on Thursday to mark the occasion.
Ooredoo held an exciting launch event on Thursday starting at 10pm and going through to midnight, which was the official release time for the new Apple
device.
The fun-packed occasion treated Ooredoo customers and fans to a slew of entertainment and activities, including a raffle draw.
As part of the festivities, the customer who placed the first iPhone7 pre-order with Ooredoo was presented with an elite Ooredoo Diamond number.
In addition, free accessories were given away to the first 50 people, who ordered online as they collected their new devices.
Commenting on the late night celebration of the iconic Apple brand, Feras Al Shaikh, director of Consumer Sales, said, “The iPhone enjoys enormous popularity with Ooredoo subscribers and this new edition has generated a huge amount of interest.
“Indeed, our sales teams have been inundated with enquiries and pre-orders.”
Mohammed Al Salmi, senior manager of Corporate Communications at Omantel, also confirmed that they had launched the iPhone7 and iPhone7 plus by midnight at the Muscat Grand Mall.
“Seeing the trend in the last two years, we have seen some brilliant responses to the launch of iPhones and this year too we have received lots of pre-orders from customers.” Omantel also held a grand event to mark the official launch of the iPhone7 at the Muscat Grand Mall; the event started at 9pm and went through to midnight.
The store was kept open beyond midnight just for the official launch.
Mohammed al Jassasi, an iPhone lover had been waiting for the latest Apple phone’s official launch in the country for some time. “I can finally buy my iPhone7; I was waiting for the official launch, whereas a lot of my friends had purchased the phone from Dubai.”
Although the phone was formally launched in Oman only today, most people in the country were able to buy it ever since it made its global debut because of its availability in the grey market.
