Sainalabdeen, Haneefa help Ghantoot to thrilling win
Mafas Sainalabdeen (65 off 53) and Theparambil Haneefa (45 runs and 2 for 22) guided Ghantoot Group to a thrilling 4-wicket victory against Landmark Group in an H Division clash at OAC 3 ground in Seeb.

However, it was the presence of 11-year-old Ayush Karthyic in their ranks that kept attracting viewers’ attention. Though Karthik, among the youngest players to have featured in an Oman Cricket League game, picked up only one wicket in his three-over spell, he showed plenty of promise in his maiden league appearance. He is also a part of Indian School Ghubrah team participating in Under-13 competition of the Junior League.

Farzan ((41) and Krishna (33) led the way as Landmark Group set Ghantoot a fighting 158 for 8 to win in 20 overs. Haneefa and Saravanan Manickam grabbed two wickets each.

Fighting hard for a win, Ghantoot secured it in the final over, scoring 159 for 6 thanks to a superb knock by Sainalabdeen. He received vital support from Haneefa who struck an unbeaten 45 off 38. Deepal and Naresh claimed two wickets each.

Brief Scores – Landmark Group 158 for 8 in 20 overs (Farzan 41 – 7x4, Krishna 33 – 4x4, Saravanan Manickam 2-22, Theparambil Haneefa 2-22) lost to Ghantoot Group 159 for 6 in 19.4 overs (Mafas Sainulabdeen 65 – 7x4, Theprambil Haneefa 45 – 2x4, Deepal 2-19, Naresh 2-21) by 4 wickets.

Design Group Engineering Consultants overcame Salih Valappil’s outstanding effort to beat Al Rehwan by 14 runs in an E Division clash at Muscat Municipality ground 4.
Design Group was restricted to 154 for 9 in 20 overs due largely to Valappil’s 4-wicket haul. He was well supported by Mohammed Shanid and Tanveer Haussain who both bagged two wickets each.

Valappil then fought valiantly to chase down the target, scoring 52 off 43 but found little support from others as Al Rehwan was dismissed for 140 in 20 overs.
