Applications open for Research and Innovations Award in Water Science

Muscat: The Research Council (TRC), in collaboration with Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science and the Ministry of Education, has opened applications for the Research and Innovations Award in Water Science starting from September 18, 2019, and ending on December 31 this year.
The award aims to promote the development of high-quality research and to encourage and support innovative initiatives of individuals, research teams, academic researchers, companies, and the small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs). It comprises two categories: the Scientific Publication Category in Field of Water and the Innovations Category in the Field of Water.
The Scientific Publication Category in the Field of Water recognises outstanding published research that addresses the challenges in the water sector. This category covers two types of publications; papers of PhD holders, and papers of young researchers (Non-PhD holders).
The Innovations Category in the Field of Water includes water innovation prototypes that represent small-scale entries in early-stage technology with realistic expectations for commercialisation, and water innovation productsservices that represent larger-scale entries with operational benefits or achievements. This category involves two parts; Innovation and Young Innovator (School students from Grade 10 to 12).
The winning project under the papers of PhD holders is awarded OMR 2,000 and the same applies to the winning project under the young researchers (Non-PhD holders).
Under the ‘Innovation’ part, the first winning project is awarded OMR 5000, the second gets OMR 4000, while the third one is awarded OMR 3000. For the ‘The Young Innovator’ section, the first winning project is awarded OMR 1200, the second gets OMR 1000, the third gets OMR 800, the forth gets OMR 500, and the same is for the fifth winner.
Winners will be awarded on March 2020. Interested applicants can apply to the award, starting from September 18, through visiting TRC website, which includes the application conditions and criteria.
