Muscat: “His Majesty Sultan Qaboos is in good health, thanks to God,” Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, said in an interview with a Saudi daily.
Alawi also refuted rumours about Oman having any involvement in the smuggling of weapons to Yemen through the Sultanate.
“If there is any doubt, we are ready to clarify to our brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” he explained.
In the interview, which was published on Thursday, the minister revealed that the GCC, UK and the US have agreed on a road map that will implement a plan for Yemen.
“In the best scenario, it will be ready in two to three weeks,” he added.
Talking about Syria, Alawi said that closing the Sultanate’s embassy in Damascus will not solve the Syrian issue.
“Syria is a member of the United Nations and it attends its meetings and everyone deals with President Bashar Al Asad and the Syrian country,” he added.
As for Iran, the minister said that Oman has a good relationship with Iran, “being a neighbor and a partner in the sea and the Strait of Hormuz,”
He explained that the nuclear deal was for making regional and international peace and to protect the region from the catastrophe of war and destruction.
