Indian Social Club's Malayalam Wing in Oman to host Onam celebrations

Muscat: The Indian Social Club’ Malayalam Wing will host Onam celebrations in the Sultanate from 19 - 21 September.

The Government of Oman approved socio-cultural organisation will host the three-day celebration at the Grand Hall of Al Falaj Hotel in Ruwi after month-long competitions in domains such as dance, music, fine arts and literature, for both children and adults.

The event will be inaugurated by the Indian Ambassador to Oman, Munu Mahawar, on 19 September at 7.30 pm. Indian Social Club Chairman Dr Sathish Nambiar will then present the presidential address and General Secretary Babu Rajendran will host a felicitation ceremony.

Notable film personality, Mr. Lal, and many prominent personalities from the business community are expected to be present at the function.

On the first day of the event, renowned Indian violinist Sabareesh Prabhaker —who has performed at over 5000 concerts — and his team will enthral the audience with a performance.

In addition to this, a variety of cultural programs traditionally associated with Onam will be performed.

On the second day the winners of the 2019 Onam competitions will be awarded.

On the concluding day of the event, the traditional ‘Ona Sadhya’ (Onam Feast) will be served to around 4000 event attendees.

The social club’s Malayalam Wing has been functioning in the Sultanate of Oman for several decades and promotes India’s rich heritage and culture.
