Muscat: Omani authorities have advised everyone traveling to Oman by road to use an e-visa rather than wait for a visa-on-arrival. The announcement was made by the Royal Oman Police (ROP). A statement by the ROP read: "The Royal Oman Police kindly requests all visitors requiring visas traveling to Oman by road to obtain their e-visas online before travel." According to the ROP, getting an e-visa will make the journey easier for the visitor and will also make clearing travel procedures quicker for the authorities. "This [the e-visa] will facilitate easy and efficient processing at the border posts. “Visa-on-arrival is now an exception to the rule and e-visas should be used wherever possible," the statement added, explaining that e-visas also make things easier for travellers themselves. The ROP also explained that a visa-on-arrival is now considered an "extra service at the most narrow entrance points to Oman."
